Tons of articles from Dr. Tomas Teskey D.V.M
Also a fellow Arizonan, Dr. Teskey is a no-nonsense, "say it like it is" veterinarian turned barefoot farrier. Here you can find articles dealing with everything from founder to navicular, and everything in between.
(Or, if you can only read ONE article, make it this one:
Breaking Traditions). Dr Teskey also has a fantastic blog that allows horse owners to ask questions about natural hoof care.

The Horse's Hoof
Highly informative website. Offers articles, pictures, resources, and you can also purchase a subscription the The Horse's Hoof magazine.

Fascinating article about how the proper trim creates a healthy foot.

Houston, TX mounted patrol unit goes barefoot and bitless!
They serve and protect the people, and now their doing the same for their invaluable equine partners.  An informative glimpse of how the wisdom of going barefoot is spreading like wildfire.

Make your horse a hoof bath
Horses in the wild must stand in the water when they drink, keeping their feet naturally pliable and moisturized. A hoof bath is a nice approximation of a wild behavior for our domestic horses. For those who also live in the dry Arizona desert, check out this article as well.

Self Improvement by Way of the Horse

For me, becoming a better horsewoman has been as much, if not more, about a  journey of self improvement and self discovery, as it has been about learning the proper seat and balance on the horse. Horses can sense our incongruencies, insecurities, fears, and social masks, so if you're searching for that deep spiritual bond with your horse, you'll find the path to those "Black Stallion moments" may require you to change more than you imagined. These are a few of the tools I have found most helpful in my own personal journey.

Sedona Method
Traditionally, we've been taught to "drop our baggage outside the arena", but you can't fool a horse! As highly intuitive and emotional prey animals, their survival depends on being able to sense what's under the veil no matter how deep you bury it. The Sedona Method is a proven technique that teaches you how to release negative emotions and become more peaceful and authentic.

Meditate with Holosync
Science tells us that those who meditate tend to be more peaceful, live longer, and are more adaptable and fluid mentally than those who do not. I tried for over a decade to meditate properly, but until a friend (and boarder) introduced me to Holosync, I never quite "got it". I haven't missed a day in over a year, and the difference is astounding. Thanks Christin!

Epona Equestrian Services
Having recently participated in a workshop at Epona, there aren't words to describe the eye-opening and impactful experiences to be had at this gorgeous ranch in Sonoita, AZ. Deeply personal, empowering, and lasting; if you've read The Tao of Equus, you'll appreciate Linda's Kohanov's empowering retreat of "horse facilitated experiential learning".

The Secret
Introduced to me by my mentor, friend, and trainer, Gary Woods, "T
he Secret" is completely life transforming, and is certainly the greatest gift anyone's ever given me.
